The Skyline College Learning Center supports your education by providing resources such as tutoring, workshops, and other academic resources you need to succeed outside the classroom.

This collection includes thousands of hours of video, exclusive books, learning experiences, case studies, and certification prep for a wide variety of tech-, business-related topics including programming, web and mobile design, hardware, security, and more. This database also includes books on a wide variety of topics beyond technology.

Academic Search Complete (EBSCO) offers an enormous collection of full-text journals, magazines, and news sources in many subject areas. Scholarly content covers a broad range of important areas of academic study, including anthropology, engineering, law, sciences, and much more.

 

Academic OneFile (Gale) provides access to millions of articles from over 17,000 scholarly journals and other authoritative sources in key subject areas such as biology, chemistry, criminal justice, economics, environmental science, history, marketing, political science, and psychology.

Kanopy 

Skyline College has purchased a small selection of films. For access, log in as you would to Canvas. Note: You may need to enable pop-ups for Kanopy to access it from off-campus.

  1. Go to www.kanopy.com/signup and click on “Find Your Library"
  2. Type your library name and select it from the list, or search for a library near you using your city name or zip code.
  3. Enter your library card number, and if required, your library card password/PIN and click Continue.

 Skyline College Library offers online The  New York Times accounts for all students, staff, and faculty. This includes unlimited access via mobile apps on tablets and smartphones.

NYTimes.com accounts are good for one year for eligible Skyline College community members only (current students, staff, and faculty), after which accounts need to be renewed.

OneSearch is your one-stop shop for searching the Skyline College Library's electronic and print collections. 

If you are a current Skyline College (or SMCCD) student, faculty, or staff, you automatically have a free college library account that can be used to borrow materials and access collections at the college libraries.  You do NOT need a physical card beyond your College ID and/or your G number.

Locating Items in the Library

Books in the Skyline College Library are organized according to the Library of Congress (LC) classification system, using a combination of numbers and letters in a set order. The letters at the beginning of each call number indicate the subject area. For example:
