Welcome to The Skyline College Library!
As an international student, you may find the academic library system and services in the United States somewhat different from those in your own country. This guide will introduce you to our library system and provide useful resources to help you succeed academically at Skyline College
When you are new, the Library can seem overwhelming, but help is available If you have any questions, please contact me at walawalkars@smccd.edu or another Skyline College Librarian.
The Skyline College Library has an "open stacks" which simply means that you are welcome to browse and find most of the library's collection without any restrictions. You can find books relevant to your topic by clicking on in the OneSearch search box from the library homepage and borrow them with your library card. You can also borrow laptops, ipads, phone chargers, headphones, etc
In today's American libraries, electronic resources are a very important part of research. More and more books, journal articles, magazines, and newspapers are available in electronic format and are accessible remotely. You can find such electronic resources by using the OneSearch search box on the library homepage.
Libraries have their own special language. Here is a glossary of words you might hear used in the library.
Librarians can help you identify information you need and can show you, step by step, how to find books and other materials in the library. If you have any questions or need assistance in using the library, please do not hesitate to chat with us, email us or ask at the reference desk.
