Papel Picado

This event has concluded. Thank you for coming. - The Library Staff

Papel Picado (perforated paper) is a traditional Mexican decorative craft made by cutting elaborate designs into sheets of tissue paper. Papel picado banners are used on birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. They are often used in early October to celebrate Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead. Traditionally made using a chisel, we'll instead use scissors to make abstract patterns.

You're invited! Join us for a 2 hour session at the Library to create papel picado.

When: Wednesday, October 25, 2:00-4:00pm.
What: For this workshop, bring a small, sharp pair of scissors (if you don't own a pair, the Library will provide)
Where: Skyline College Library, Building 5, 2nd floor - Turn left as you enter the library and head to the back

Questions? Contact Librarian Mary Torres Volken (650) 738-4312; email: torresvolkenm@smccd.edu

We look forward to seeing you!
