Google search 

To search for multiple concepts: 
- use ORs between words for the same concept, 
- use quotes (" ") around phrases.
-  Google does not use the *

To limit to a specific domain, use site: in front of the domain name (no spaces)

site:.edu   will limit a search to just .edu sites 
site:.edu OR site:.gov   will limit a search to either .edu or .gov sites
-site:.com  will exclude .com sites

Organization focused on Human Rights

Below is a list of some of the many organizations involved in human rights across the globe.   

United Nations UN logo is credited with beginning the modern human rights movement and has continued that focus today including through its 47 member Human Rights Council.  Visit the United Nations webpages to find more information about United Nations bodies, thematic issues, international court and tribunals, news and other issues relating to human rights.  Also, visit http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Pages/Home.aspx  the website of the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner, the principal human rights official of the United Nations, to learn about current human rights research, education, public information, and advocacy activities in the United Nations system. For a research guide maintained by the United Nations on human rights go to http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/resguide/spechr.htm.

 

Amnesty International Logo  Amnesty International describes itself as a global grassroots movement focused on fighting injustice and promoting human rights. Its website provides news, events, blogs and research on human rights issues around the world. 

 

Human Rights Watch LogoHuman Rights Watch , which is headquartered  in NYC,  is dedicated to defending and protecting human rights around the world. Its website  can be searched by country, region or by topic,  for news, publications and other information on their work.

Interamerican Commission on Human Rights  Interamerican Commission on Human Rights  is a principal and autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (“OAS”) whose mission is to promote and protect human rights in the American hemisphere. It is composed of seven independent members who serve in a personal capacity.


ACLU logo The ACLU   is a non-profit and non-partisan public interest law firm that according to its website created Human Rights Program "as part of a reemerging movement of U.S. based organizations that uses the international human rights framework in domestic rights advocacy". Visit the ACLU's webpages on human rights which contains press releases,  blog posts, legal documents, and more, to learn more about their work.

 

Global Rights LogoGlobalRights.org is a global human rights advocacy group founded in 1978 that partners with activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to combat discrimination based upon race, gender or sexual orientation.

 

Madre Logo MADRE is an international human rights organization founded in 1983 "that works in partnership with community-based women's organizations worldwide to address issues of health and reproductive rights, economic development, education and other human rights".
