This research guide is a tool to help you look for information for your online class ECE 272.
You have an assignment which may require library research to support your work.
For some of the information, Google is the right search tool to use to find the information you need, for example, the information provides by school districts, government agencies, and non-profit organizations (for example Head Start).
For other kinds of information, current news, reports, research about child development (in journals and books), often using library databases prove to be a time-saving choice that allows for quicker access to published reliable information sources.
Skyline College online education students can access library resources, including articles, research guides, reference sources, e-books and streaming videos, from any computer with internet access. Librarians can be contacted by phone, email, chat, and text. There are, however, certain resources provided by the library (such as reserve textbooks, DVDs, etc.) that can only be accessed in person at the library. Online education students are welcomed and encouraged to visit the library in person at any time.
If you are a current Skyline College (or SMCCD) student, faculty, or staff, you automatically have a free college library account that can be used to access our online library resources. To log into our online off-campus you'll need to use your email or Canvas login.
Skyline College Library is part of the San Mateo County Public Library System, so contact the circulation or reference desk of any other libraries you'd like to visit to find out about borrowing and access privileges at your public libraries.
