API: Academic Performance Index
This Web site contains summary reports and information of the Academic Performance Index (API) for California schools, searchable by county, district, and school. Included are results for California Stanford 9 STAR tests, the Spanish Assessment of Basic Education (SABE/2) test results, score explanations and comparisons, and more. Excellent database for comparing public elementary, middle, or high schools in California. Created by an independent, non-profit organization, GreatSchools database provides standardized test results, school district standards, demographics, and diversity information for each school. Many schools have expanded profiles, which include curriculum; the community and its culture; staffing; school climate and safety, and much more. Links are provided for individual schools' Web sites, too. This site also includes information about choosing schools, the enrollment process, and creating parent-school partnerships.
