How to use eBooks

​​​​​​Here's what you should know?

• ebook formats and device compatibility will vary by publisher.
• ebooks can be downloaded for offline reading and can also be read in-browser
• There is no limit on the amount of ebooks you can use 
• You will need to create a free account with the ebook provider

• We purchase ebooks with unlimited user access when available. If all copies of an item are in use, please try accessing the title again later.

In order to download EBSCO eBooks to your computer or your portable device to read with the Adobe Digital Editions mobile app, you must create a personal My EBSCOhost folder.

Create an account

• Once you have found an eBook you would like to download, you will be prompted to create an account with the ebook provider.
• Each provider requires an account and you will be unable to download an eBook for offline use without creating one. You can read an eBook in your browser without creating an account by selecting the "Read online" or "full text" option.
• Look for a link to "sign in" to create a new account or log into one you may have already created (these links are usually near the top of the page)

1. In  the EBSCOhost database click on the Sign In tab

2. From the “Welcome Back” page click on Sign up.

3. At this point you have two options:

a. You can fill out the form and click on the Create account button.

b. Or you can click on Continue with Google

    Note: If you choose option 2, make sure to type your smccd email address (for example jdoe@my.smccd.edu) in the box and click on Next.
