Hilary Cruz Mejia, a 19-year old Latinx immigrant from Puerto de Iztapa, Guatemala, a first-generation college student, and a queer poet, who sometimes is unable to find meaning in logical language, though poetry with its rhythms and alliterations has been a healing process through her transition in the U.S. In her second year at Skyline College, she also serves as president of the student Poetry Club.

The Poetry Corner presented "Words Changing Worlds" LIVE, via Zoom. Student Poetry Club president Hilary Mejia Cruz and Skyline College English department faculty lead the afternoon's discussion. This session was inspired by Amanda Gorman's inaugural poem, "The Hill We Climb."
